Solving Rational Expressions Calculator is used to calculate rational expression which are expressions that has numerator and denominator both of them as polynomials. Here any value of the variable that makes a denominator in a rational equation zero cannot be a solution of the equation. This calculator follows rules of solving fractions.

Example 1: Using solving rational expressions calculator to solve the equation
Add 3x + 2 / 5x-2 and 8x-3 / 5x+2

For the given problem:

Take LCM of (5x-2) and (5x+2) = (5x)2 - 22

[(3x+2) (5x+2)]/ (5x)2 - 22  + [(8x-3) (5x-2)]/ (5x)2 - 22

= [(15x2 + 16x + 4) + (40x2 – 31x + 6)] / (5x)2 - 22

= (55x2 – 15x + 10) / (5x)2 - 22

Answer = 55x2 – 15x + 10 / 25x2 - 4

Example 2: Using solving rational expressions calculator to solve the equation
Subtract 2 / x - 1 and 1 / x + 1

For the given problem:

Since the denominators are not common these 2 equations are unlike. We will take the LCM.

LCM = (x-1) (x+1) = x2 – 1

= 2(x + 1) / x2 – 1 – (x-1) / x2 – 1

= (2x + 2 – x + 1) / x2 – 1

= x + 3 / x2 – 1
