Significant digits are the number of digits which we need to express within the uncertainty of calculation.
We follow some rules for significant digits: Non Zero (0) digits are always significant. Zeros (0) between Two Digits are always significant. Zeros after other digits but behind a decimal point is significant. Zeros at the end of any number is significant only if they are behind the decimal point
Significant digit calculators uses decimal or scientific notation for calculation.

Example 1
Find the significant figures of 0.055, 5006, 8.20
Solution:
0.055: we can see that it has 2 (two) significant digits as we know the rule that Zero which comes before other digits are not significant.
5006: here we have 4 (four) significant digits because Zeros (0) between Two Digits are always significant.
8.20: it has 3 (three) significant figures becauseZeros after other digits but behind a decimal point is significant.

Example2.
7.32100
Solution
It has 6 significant digits because Zeros after other digits but behind a decimal point is significant.
