The triangle in which one of the angles is 90º (right angle) is a Right triangle. So here if one angle is Right angle then the remaining two angles add up to 90º. If the angles are 90º, 45º and 45º then the triangle is called as isosceles right triangle.
Example 1: State whether the given sides of a triangle forms a Right triangle or not.
a = 4, b = 12 and c = 13
Applying the Pythagorean Theorem, c² = a² + b²
Substituting the values of a, b and c in the above formula.
We get,
13² = 4² + 12²
169 = 16 + 144
169 = 160 ( This is false)
Therefore the given sides 4, 12 and 13 does not form a Right triangle.
Example 2: Find the length of the side of a Right triangle round to the nearest tenths place. a = 14, b = ? and c = 62
Applying the Pythagorean Theorem, c² = a² + b²
Substituting the values of a, b and c in the above formula.
We get,
b = 60.3986…
Round off to the nearest tenths place = b = 60.4

Your tutor has been such an inspiration to me as I have difficulty getting some of the physics concepts down and truly understanding them. She takes the time to fully explain each and every aspect of any problem I might ask for help and always with encouragement and humor.
