A reciprocal is a technique commonly used while solving or simplifying fractions and rational expressions. When two fractions are divided by one another, then the fraction in the bottom can be flipped upside down and multiplied to the first fraction. This method is called the Reciprocal method. Reciprocal calculator is the online tool useful in taking reciprocals of numbers.

Example 1: Divide the given fraction 3/2 by 6/10.

Dividing the given two fractions, the expression looks like this  (3/2) / (6/10)

The first fraction is ‘3/2’ and the second fraction placed below is ‘6/10’.

In order to divide two fractions, the second fraction is flipped upside down.

6/10 becomes10/6 -> this is called taking Reciprocal of a fraction!

This 10/6 is multiplied with the first fraction 3/2.

(3/2) * (10/6) ->  (3 * 10)/ (2 *6)

30/12 -> this is simplified to 5/2.

Hence (3/2) / (6/10) = 5/2

Example 2: Divide the given fraction 5/8 by 1/2.

Dividing the given two fractions, the expression looks like this ->  (5/8) / (1/2)

The first fraction is ‘5/8’ and the second fraction placed below is ‘1/2’.

In order to divide two fractions, the second fraction is flipped upside down.

1/2 becomes2/1-> this is called taking Reciprocal of a fraction!

This 2/1 is multiplied with the first fraction 5/8.

(5/8) * (2/1) ->  (5 * 2)/ (8 * 1)

10/8 -> this is simplified to 5/4.

Hence (5/8) / (1/2) = 5/4.
