When two numbers are divided, the number which is being divided is called the ‘Dividend’. The number which
is dividing the dividend is the ‘Divisor’. When these two numbers are divided, the answer we get is called
‘Quotient’ and the number left over at the end is ‘Remainder’. Quotient and remainder calculator is the online
tool which can evaluate the quotient and remainder.
Example 1: When 96 is divided by 4, prove that the quotient is 24 and the remainder is 0.
Given:-> Dividend = 96 -> Divisor = 4
Quotient = 24 and-> Remainder = 0
In order to prove that the given numbers are the quotient and the remainder, we can use the Division
formula:
Dividend = (Divisor * Quotient) + Remainder
(Divisor * Quotient) + Remainder = (4 * 24) + 0 = 96
Since ‘96’ is already given as the dividend in the question,
Hence proved that 96/4 gives Quotient= 24 and Remainder= 0
Example 2: When 45is divided by 6, prove that the quotient is 7 and the remainder is 3.
Given:-> Dividend = 45-> Divisor = 6
Quotient = 7 and -> Remainder = 3
In order to prove that the given numbers are the quotient and the remainder, we can use the Division
formula:
Dividend = (Divisor * Quotient) + Remainder
(Divisor * Quotient) + Remainder = (6 * 7) + 3=42+ 3= 45
Since ‘45’ is already given as the dividend in the question,
Hence proved that 45/6 gives Quotient= 7 and Remainder= 3.
