Perfect square trinomial calculator is used to represent the binomial expression into perfect square form of a trinomial. By using this calculator, when a binomial expression is given we can easily convert it into perfect square of its trinomial. Whenever, we need to multiply binomial expression by itself, the obtained trinomial is called as perfect square trinomial.
Factoring perfect trinomials we can remember the formulas listed below.
(a+b)2 = a2 + 2ab + b2
(a-b)2 = a2 - 2ab + b2
Example 1: Convert the given perfect square trinomial equation into factored form.
x2+10x+25
Solution:
Given equation is x2+10x+25
Here we can use this formula a2+2ab+b2 = (a+b)2
Compare the trinomial equation with the formula to determine the factors
First term is a2=x2, form this we can get a=x
Last term is b2 = 25, form this we can get b =5
Put the plus symbol in between them with second power exponent.
Answer is (x+5)2 or (x+5) (x+5)
Example 2: Convert the given perfect square trinomial equation into factored form.
4x2-24x+36
Solution:
Given equation is 4x2-24x+36
Here we can use this formula a2-2ab+b2 = (a-b)2
Compare the trinomial equation with the formula to determine the factors
First term is a2=4x2, form this we can get a=2x
Last term is b2 = 36, form this we can get b =6
Put the minus symbol in between them with second power exponent.
Answer is (2x-6)2 or (2x-6) (2x-6).
