Percentage difference = [(first value –second value) / (first value +second value)/2] x 100

Example 1: Allen sold 34 tickets and rocky sold 26 tickets for book exhibition. Find the percentage

difference.

Solution Steps:

Step 1: The difference between 34 and 26 is:

34 - 26 = 8

Step 2: Average of 34 and 26 is:

(34+26)/2=60/2=30.

Step 3: Calculate the percentage

Difference = 8

Average = 30

= (8/20) * 100

= 0.266667*100

= 26.6667

= 26.67% (nearest hundredth)

Percentage difference between Allen and rocky for no.of tickets sold is 26.67%

Example 2: What is the percentage difference between 50 and 75?

Step 3: Percentage difference = (25 /62.5)*100

                                                =(0.4) *100
