Percent differenceof two numbers is used to find the percentage of a fraction yield by dividing the difference of two numbers inan average of these two numbers.

Percent difference: if a and b is the two numbers such that a > b, then the difference between the numbers is : a – b, and average of two numbers is: (a + b) / 2 = c

Then, percent difference of the numbers a and b is given by, [(a – b) / c] * 100

Example 1:-

Find percent difference of 86 and 70: -

Solution: Here we have a = 86 and b = 70. (a > b)

Let us first find the difference: a – b = 86 – 70 = 16

Average = (a + b) / 2 = (86 + 70) / 2 = 156 / 2 = 78

Percent difference = (16 / 78) * 100 = 20.51%

Example 2: percent difference of 10 and ‘x’ is 20% then find the number ‘x’. given that x > 10.

Solution:We have a = x and b = 10.

Difference: (a – b) = x – 10

Average of 10 and x : x + 10 / 2

Now, we know that percent difference = difference/ average * 100

ð  20 = (x – 10) / [(x + 10)/2] *100

ð  Solving this expression for x we get, x = 12.222

Let x=1 à 1+1 = 0+0+C+0=C, C= 2; Let x=0 à 1=0+0+0–D, D=-1

Let x=-1; 1+1=-4A+2B+6; 2A–B=2; Let x=2 à 4+1=2A+2B+3; 1=A+B

Answer : A=1, C=2, D=-1

1/(x-1) + 2/(x-1)3 – 1/x
