Solution: We can observe that value of the mobile phone is depreciated (means decreases)

To calculate the percent change by using this formula.

Percent decrease = (Older value – Newer value) ÷ Older value.

= ($200 - $180) ÷ $200

= ($20) ÷ $200

= $0.1

= ($20) ÷ $200

= $0.1

Multiply with 100, we will get the value in percent.

= 0.1 *100

=10 %

So, Mobile phone price is 10% decreased when compared to last year.

Percent increase = (Newer value – Older value) ÷ Older value.

= (32 – 20) ÷ 20

=12÷20

= 0.6

Multiply with 100, we will get the value in percent.

= 0.6 *100

= 60 %

So the staff in a company is increased by 60%

= 0.1 *100

=10 %

So, Mobile phone price is 10% decreased when compared to last year.

To calculate the percent change by using this formula.

Percent increase = (Newer value – Older value) ÷ Older value.

= (32 – 20) ÷ 20

=12÷20

= 0.6

Multiply with 100, we will get the value in percent.

= 0.6 *100
