The number which contains a decimal point is called as a decimal number. Multiplying decimal calculator is a tool used for multiplying two decimal numbers or a decimal number with a whole number.

For example 23.68 is a decimal number, here 23 is the whole number part and 68 is the decimal part.

Example 1: Find the product of 6.18 and 1.5

Forget about the decimal point and multiply the numbers 618 and 15

   6 1 8
   x 1 5

  3 0  9  0
+6  1 8

  9  2  7  0

The product of 618 and 15 gave 9270. Now go for the decimal point.

Number of digits after the decimal point in 6.18 = 2 Number of digits after the decimal point in 1.5 = 1. In total there are 2 + 1 = 3 numbers after the decimal point.

Now in the final result, place the decimal after 3 places from ones place. Hence the answer becomes 9.270.

Example 2: Find the product of 70.39 and 61.23.

Forget about the decimal point and multiply the numbers 7039 and 6123

 7 0 3 9
X 6123

  43099797

The product of 7039 and 6123 gives 43099797.

Now we need to place the decimal point. Count the number digits after the decimal point in the given numbers.

Number of digits after decimal point in 70.39 = 2

Number of digits after decimal point in 61.23 = 2

Total number of digits after decimal point = 2 + 2 = 4

Placing the decimal after 4 digits in the final result starting from the ones place.

Hence the answer is 4309.9797
