Limit of a function is the value which the function approaches, when the independent variable approaches a

certain value. On the X-Y plane, as the limit of the variable approaches a value on the X-axis, the function

approaches another value on the Y-axis. Limit calculator wolfram is the online tool which can find the limit

value of any given function.

Example 1: Evaluate the limit of the function, f(x) = 3x + 10 when ‘x’ approaches 1.

Given function: f(x) = 3x +10

In order to find the limit value of a function, we should first look at the number which ‘x’ approaches, and then

plug-in that number in function.

When x -> 1, lim (3x + 10) = 3 (1) + 10

limx->1(3x  +10) = 3 + 10 when x -> 1

limx->1(3x + 10) = 13 when x -> 1

Hence the limit of the given function = 13

Example 2: Evaluate the limit of the function, f(x) = 4x - 5 when ‘x’ approaches -2.

Given function: f(x) = 4x - 5

In order to find the limit value of a function, we should first look at the number which ‘x’ approaches, and then

plug-in that number in function.

When x ->-2, lim (4x - 5) = 4 (-2) - 5

lim
x->-2(4x - 5) = -8 - 5 when x -> -2

limx->-2(4x - 5) = -13 when x ->-2

Hence the limit of the given function = -13
