Frequency is a common term used in wave motion in Physics. A wave motion follows a path which vibrates or oscillates a certain number of times in a given period of time. The number of oscillations or vibrations caused by a wave motion is called frequency. Frequency calculator is the online tool which can calculate the frequency for any wave motion.
Example 1: Find the frequency of a wave if the time period of the waveis 5 seconds.
Given time period of the wave, T = 5seconds.
In order to find the frequency, we use the formula,
Frequency, f = 1/ Time period
Frequency, f = 1/ 5secs
Frequency, f = 0.2secs-1
The general unit for frequency is also Hertz “Hz”.
Hence frequency of the wave, f = 0.2Hz
Example 2: Find the frequency of a wave if the time period of the wave is 12 seconds.
Given time period of the wave, T = 12 seconds.
In order to find the frequency, we use the formula,
Frequency, f = 1/ Time period
Frequency, f = 1/ 12secs
Frequency, f = 0.083secs-1 or f = 0.083 Hertz
Hence frequency of the wave, f = 0.083Hz
