The online tool used to find the y intercept of a given straight line is called as finding the y intercept calculator. The Y Intercept of a straight line is the point where the coordinate touches the y axis. The y intercept is the point with x co-ordinate equals 0 i.e. (0, b).
Example 1: Find the y intercept of the straight line with the equation
3 X + 4 Y = 12
Given equation of the straight line is 3 X + 4 Y = 12
Y intercept is the point on y axis with co-ordinates (0, b)
So substitute X = 0 in the given equation.
This gives 3 * 0 + 4 Y = 12; 0 + 4 Y = 12 > 4 Y/ 4 = 12/4 = 3.
Hence the y intercept of the given straight line is (0, 3).
Example 2: Find the y intercept of the straight line with the equation
2 X + 5 Y = 10
Given equation of the straight line is 2 X + 5 Y = 10
Y intercept is the point on y axis with co-ordinates (0, b)
So substitute X = 0 in the given equation.
This gives 2 * 0 + 5 Y = 10; 0 + 5 Y = 10 > 5 Y/ 5 = 10/5 = 2.
Hence the y intercept of the given straight line is (0, 2).
