When we are performing numerical operations on numbers such as addition, subtraction, multiplication or division, there are some rules or properties we follow. Distributive property is one such property which is applied to both numbers as well as polynomial expressions. Distributive property calculator is an easy tool which can help with calculations based on it.
Example 1: Calculate the value of the given numbers (or constants): 6 (3 + 5)
Given numerical expression: 6 (3 + 5)
We can use the Distributive property which says è a (b + c) = (a * b) + (a * c), where a, b, c are numbers.
So if a number is being multiplied from outside the parenthesis, we can distribute that number inside the parenthesis to every
term!
6 (3 + 5) = (6 * 3) + (6 * 5)
18 + 30 = 48
6(3 + 5) = 48
Example 2: Evaluate the value of the given numerical expression using Distributive property: -2 (4 + 1)
Given numerical expression: -2 (4 + 1)
We can use the Distributive property which says è a (b + c) = (a * b) + (a * c), where a, b, c are numbers.
So here ‘-2’ is multiplied from outside to the parenthesis è we can distribute ‘-2’ inside the parenthesis to every term!
-2 (4 +1) = (-2 * 4) + (-2 * 1)
-8 – 2 = -10
-2(4 + 1) = -10
