Substituting the radius and the height in the above volume formula, we get

 Volume, V = π * (5cm) 2 * (8cm)   π * 25cm2 * 8cm

 Volume, V = 3.142 * 25cm2 * 8cm

 Volume of the cylinder, V = 628.3cm3


 
Example 2: Find the volume of the cylinder where radius of the base is 4mand the height is 12m.

Volume of the cylinder, V = π * r2 * h

Given radius of the cylinder, r = 4m

Height of the cylinder, h = 12m

Substituting the radius and the height in the above volume formula, we get

 Volume, V = π * (4m) 2 * (12m)   π * 16m2 * 12m

 Volume, V = 3.142 * 16m2 * 12m

 Volume of the cylinder, V = 603.2m3
