There are different types of fractions and among them there are fractions where a fraction is written in the numerator part, or a fraction is written in the denominator part or a fraction is present in both the numerator and the denominator. Such kinds of fractions are called Complex fractions. Complex fractions calculator is the fun tool which helps in simplifying them.

Example 1: Convert the given complex fraction (3/4) / (5/6) into a simple fraction.

First since in the numerator there is already a fraction, we can keep that fraction the same way.

But the fraction in the denominator has to be simplified and hence we find it’s reciprocal!

The reciprocal of 5/6 is 6/5

Now multiply the reciprocal with the fraction in the numerator:

(3/4) * (6/5)

(3 * 6) / (4 * 5) = 18/20

18/20 can be simplified further to 9/10 which is a simple fraction!

Example 2: Convert the given complex fraction (2/ 5) / (3/10) into a simple fraction.

First since in the numerator there is already a fraction, we can keep that fraction the same way.

But the fraction in the denominator has to be simplified and hence we find it’s reciprocal!

The reciprocal of 3/10 is 10/3

Now multiply the reciprocal with the fraction in the numerator:

(2/5) * (10/3)

(2 * 10) / (5 * 3) = 20/15

20/15 can be simplified further to 4/3 which is a simple fraction!
