xc = (10 * 0 + 30 * 5)/ (10 + 30)

xc = 150/ (40)

Example 2: Two people of masses 50g and 70 kg are sitting on each corner of the boat 20m long respectively. What is their center of mass?

Formula for Center of mass, xc = (m1x1 + m2x2)/ (m1 + m2)

In the given question, we can say that:

m1 = 50kg, m2 = 70kg, x1 = 0m and x2 = 20m

xc = (50 * 0 + 70 * 20)/ (50 + 70)

xc = 1400/ 120

xc = 11.67m
