Square root of an expression means that a number or a variable is raised to an exponent of ½. If a number or a variable is raised to the exponent of ½, then we use the symbol ‘√’ which is called the Radical symbol to represent the expression and we place the number inside the radical. Calculator with square root is an instant online tool which can find the square root of any number.

Example 1: Find the square root of the given variable x6.

Here if we take the square root of x6, then we can represent it like this:

√x6

Any number or variable present inside the radical symbol is called the Radicand èthe radicand here is x6

Since the radical symbol means that the variable here is raised to an exponent of ½,

We can rewrite this expression as:

√x6 = (x6)1/2

Now we can multiply both the exponents with each other  x6*1/2

x3 is the answer!

Example 2: Find the square root of the given expression x2y4.

Here if we take the square root x2y4of then we can represent it like this:

√ (x2y4)

Since x2y4 is present inside the radical, we call x2y4 as the Radicand.

Since the radical symbol means that the expressionis raised to an exponent of ½,

We can rewrite this expression as:

√x2y4 = (x2y4)1/2

Now distributing the ‘1/2’ to each variable  (x2* ½) (y4 * ½) = (x) (y2)

xy2is the answer!
