When a number is divided by another number, the left over number after the division is called the Remainder. If the division is an exact division where the number exactly is divided by the given other number, then the left over is ‘0’. Even if a division is not an exact division, whichever number is left over after the division, that number is called the Remainder. Calculator with remainder is the online tool which can find the remainder of a given fraction.

Example 1: Divide 8/3 and find the remainder.

Given fraction is 10/3.

Here ‘8’ is called the Dividend and ‘3’ is called the Divisor.

When ‘10’ is divided by ‘3’, it’s not an exact division since ‘10’ is not a multiple of ‘3’.

Using the long division method, we know that the closest multiple of ‘3’ to ‘10’ is ‘9’.

3 * 3= 9 and (10 - 9) = 1

Here ’3’ is the quotient and,

‘1’ is remainder since ‘1’ is left over after the division!

Hence remainder = 1

Example 2: Divide 19/4 and find the remainder.

Given fraction is 22/4.

Here ‘22’ is called the Dividend and ‘4’ is called the Divisor.

When ‘22’ is divided by ‘4’, it’s not an exact division since ‘22’ is not a multiple of ‘4’.

Usingthe long division method, weknow that the closest multiple of ‘4’ to ‘22’ is ‘20’.

4 * 5= 20 and (22 - 20) = 2

Here ’5’ is the quotient and,

2’ is the remainder since ‘2’ is left over after the division!

Hence remainder = 2
