Algebraic expression are the expressions which consist of atleast a constant term (also called the numerical value), a variable term (usually denoted by alphabets like a, b, x ,etc) which are raised to an exponent or degree of various integers. Algebraic expression calculator is the online tool which can help simplify or evaluate algebraic expressions using different algebraic properties.

Example 1: Simplify the algebraic expression, 3(x + 5) + 2(4x – 3) + x2 and evaluate its value when x = 2.

In order to simplify the above expression, we first use the Distributive Property and multiply the outside number, inside.

(3x + 15) + (8x – 6) + x2

Now combine the like terms

(3x + 8x) + (15 -6) + x2

11x + 9 + x2

To evaluate the simplified above expression, we plug in the place of ‘x’ as 2.

11(2) + 9 + (2)2

22 + 9 + 4

35

Example 2: Simplify the algebraic expression, (x2)2 – 5x (3x + 2) + 4(5x2 – 1) + 10

In order to simplify the above expression, we first use the Distributive Property and multiply the outside number, inside.

x4 – (5x*3x) – (5x * 2) + (4 * 5x2) – (4 * 1) + 10

x4 – 15x2 – 10x + 20x2 – 4 + 10

Now combine the like terms

x4 + (-15x2 + 20x2) – 10x + (10 – 4)

x4 + 5x2 -10x + 6
